Inspired by “Heidi™,” the “Chalet School™” books, and my love of mountains, this adorable pattern allows your doll to visit the alps too. Alternatively, take a different twist and you have an outfit for your doll working around the house or creating craft projects. Take it a step further by removing the apron and scarf, and you have a beautiful pinafore over a smart blouse, which is just perfect for an outing to town or a visit to the relatives.

The “Tyrol” outfit, by Karen Lorraine Design, consists of a crisp, unlined blouse (with optional collar) and a trendy pinafore. Both pieces have easy-to-open back closures of hook and loop tape or snap fasteners. The clean-cut apron adds versatility to the pattern, while the bonus headscarf has extra-long ties to allow for easy securing. There is also a special section in this pattern demonstrating the ribboned variation of the pinafore.

• “Fabric One” for blouse 36 (wide) x 6 (deep), cotton fabrics like lawn, broadcloth, quilting cotton
• “Fabric Two” for pinafore and scarf 44 (wide) x 12 (deep), cotton fabrics like quilting cotton
• “Fabric Three” for apron 24 (wide) x 11 deep, cotton fabrics like voile, lawn, or quilting cotton.
• Matching or contrasting thread
• Closures like hook and loop tape or snap fasteners
• Optional: Bias binding at 1 wide by 8 long. I have self-made my bias binding from the measurements included in the Fabric One measurements.
• Optional: Ribbons if making the Ribboned Variation Pinafore. I have used a jacquard flower trim of about 34 long by ¼ deep, and a velvet ribbon of 16 long by ¼ deep.
